Be the Sun

Being the Sun takes responsibility especially when I am in pain. Being the sun in different situations helps to keep positive. This was the advice given to me today by the teacher leading today’s yoga nidra class. Totally makes sense, basically we should try and be the sun in every situation. Be the person who finds a shining light that can help others and yourself.


I desperately needed my mood to be lifted as yesterday was an emotional day dealing with pain from my neck dissection, lack of sleep and sinking back in to the feeling my life is on hold and I cannot move forward and I have no enthusiasm to finish things such as my outstanding assignment for my part time studY programme. My current mood is not like me at all because I have dedicated many of my weekends to my study programme but right now it has become more difficult. My teacher, has been very supportive and does not expect me to be studying right now and is going to request an extension from the examination board which will take away some of the pressure I am feeling.


Everyone wants me to concentrate on getting better, so I know what I am feeling is pressure I am putting on myself because I am having a bad day. Doing things to change my mood is really important cancer or no cancer. Remembering to be the sun will help me next time I am feeling in balanced and need nurturing internally. I am still learning to be kind to myself.


Song: Sunset by Nitin Sawhney because like the song's meaning I too want to rise up and take hold of my situation rather than my illness taking control of me. I am keeping the faith.
