I am happy to have completed my treatment (neck dissection, base of tongue robotic surgery, and six weeks of daily radiotherapy). The journey was emotional and physically hard, but I made it through after nine months.
I still have some side effects like no saliva and a stomach feeding rig wound that won’t heal and randomly bleeds. Unfortunately, I need another operation to fix the wound, but I see a bright future.
Macmillan Cancer Support offered me a Buddy who talked to me weekly throughout my journey. This support helped me stay positive.
Speaking to someone outside my immediate circle was a mental lifesaver. I recommend a Buddy to anyone undergoing cancer treatment. Now, it’s time to give back. Rob and I are raising money for Macmillan. Despite a setback where I might need an operation, I will train as much as possible. Rob will continue and run the Celtic Trail. We started this journey together and will finish together. Please click the link below to donate. Blessings to all who have supported us.
