I am feeling like the medical profession have the keys to my life at the moment. My positive mind says that is not a bad place to be, especially with the illness I am facing. Every so often, I have to remind myself that the doctors do not have a magic wand, they are here to help solve my Bridget puzzle which will go off the beaten track from time to time and test me both physically and mentally. How I ride through the waves and the storms is the most valuable lesson I will learn.
Today I met with one of the doctors from the multi disciplinary team who would like to run some further tests before thinking about an operation. The new doctor is friendly and very optimistic, almost determined to prove that I have Thyroid cancer. The doctors hope is infectious, I need hope to get me through to the next stage, so I will breathe in the positivity for now.
I am imagining my latest storyline I am facing as a blessing, the chance of a second opinion and feel very grateful because lots of people don't get the opportunity. I understand the medical profession are here to help me through my cancer journey and they will do their best to take the right course of action. I trust their judgement, advice and respect their expertise. They allow me to ask questions and are happy to take time to respond and answer my questions which I truly appreciate.
I am reading the Lance Armstrong's book about his cancer journey. "Hope is the only antidote to fear." Like Lance explains, cancer does not discriminate. Anyone can be impacted at anytime. How you deal with your personal journey is most important factor. My recent mantra is "Everyday I grow strong in new ways." This mantra can help you create more stamina, helping get through the day and is designed to help you gain your strength and inner power. Every passing day repeating this mantra can help me overcome any personal obstacles which I may need to face and tackle. I believe repeating this mantra has helped me strengthen my inner power. Of course I am human and some days I get distracted by other stuff happening and forget to say my mantra. What I do notice is that when I do, I feel more focus and can get through the day a little bit easier.
Recently, the R&B Singer & Song writer Joyce Sims passed away. Most famous back in the 1980's for the hit song, 'Come in to my life.' This song reminds me of my teenage life watching the show Top of the Pops. Rest In Peace Joyce Sims.
