My way of thinking

I started the day off with my mantra for the day: My Body Contains Divine Wisdom. I believe in the power of Mantras being beneficial for our mind body and spirit. According to Om Magazine, there is now proof to show that mantra chanting can perform important jobs for our bodily systems. 10 minutes of mantra chanting daily can reduce our stress hormones and cortisol according research undertaken from the Neuroscientist from the University of California. I have been incorporating mantra chanting meditation into my daily routine to help me stay calm, focussed and in the present moment. I am aware of how better I feel when I do this but try not to get upset with myself if my body and mind are just not up to it that day. Some days are harder than others at the moment, sometimes are bodies just want to stay still and heal.


Finally my ear bud fits in my right ear! I am very happy about this because not only it is a sign that my body is recovering but most importantly I can now listen to music when I go for a walk alone. I decided to go for a walk around the serpentine. My right should started to hurt after a while and I remembered some advice given by the physio nurse which was to support your arm by using your jacket pockets. This helps to release any strain and pain and worked for me. Often the simple things are the most effective.


Today, I received a call from one of the MacMillan coordinators about my request for Buddy Servicing. My application has been accepted which I am happy about! I applied for this when I found out I had cancer but did not expect a response because I knew that the MacMillan service was overwhelmed at the moment, due to the Covid Pandemic. Luckily I did get a call and we have agreed 12 weekly hourly calls with my Buddy starting shortly. The idea is you talk about anything on your mind. I am happy to give this a go and talk to someone outside my core family and friends who maybe able to offer advice and listen when I may be feeling in low mood instead of putting too much pressure on my loved ones who are very much supporting me but also need a break.
